The Center for Applied Isotope Studies is the largest Isotope Geochemistry Laboratory / Radiocarbon AMS Dating Facility in the United States that is accredited under ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Our commitment to experiential STEM education, research excellence, and superior service sets us apart from other laboratories. As an interdisciplinary research center, our scientists are experts in physical chemistry, geology, marine science, physics, archaeology, ecology and biology. This means that CAIS researchers are able to effectively collaborate in research programs and participate in method development for myriad of industrial and academic applications.

Position Summary

The University of Georgia's (UGA) Center for Applied Isotope Studies (CAIS) seeks to hire a Research Scientist in the Stable Isotope Laboratory with expertise in the measurement of light stable isotopes (C,H,N,O,S). The appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Senior Research Scientist, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful applicant will work closely with UGA's interdisciplinary research community to develop tailored methods and novel applications of stable isotope analyses in such fields as anthropology, archaeology, ecology, geology, geography, marine sciences, food sciences, forensics, and/or other disciplines. The duties involve managing analytical projects and laboratory staff/students; running/maintaining/troubleshooting IRMS instruments and peripherals (EA, Gas Bench, and TC/EA); and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams leading to publications in peer-reviewed literature. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active research agenda and contribute to departmental governance.
