This Outpatient Research Nurse will be responsible for using the nursing process, to deliver professional nursing care throughout the study, to include:

  • Effectively communicate routine to complex study information to participants
  • Obtain all necessary approvals and informed consent forms
  • Perform required nursing procedures, including drug administration and phlebotomy
  • Act as liaison between patient and other members of the team regarding patient care activities relating to the research protocol
  • Provide consultation to primary physicians, nurses and technicians regarding protocol implementation. Work with physicians to determine action plans.
  • Draft source documentation worksheets as studies require.
  • Work with Trial Pharmacist and others to develop templates for studies that require templates.


Depending on the needs of the protocol:

  • Perform nursing assessments of subjects to include physical findings and report any adverse events
  • Administer research medication as needed
  • Evaluate effects of medication for expected and or unexpected results
  • Provide documentation of research devices where applicable


Qualifications

To qualify you must have:

A. Education: Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current registration in Massachusetts.

B. Experience: 5 years' experience with adult medical/surgical patients and 2 years of experience as a nurse, with IV experience required

C. Detail-oriented concerning the collection and documentation of research samples and data.

D. Flexible with hours to meet the needs of the research study. Flexibility and willingness to travel to different clinic locations through the day.

E. Chemotherapy/biologic drug administration certification, preferred.

F. Proficient with IV insertion as well as experience with central lines preferred. Phlebotomy and blood drawing off IV lines preferred.
