Position Summary
A Research Technician I position is open in the Tatsuaki KurosakiLab at the Biotechnical and Clinical Laboratory Sciences at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree in science and prefer to have expertise in molecular or cellular biology to study one of a number of very exciting and ongoing projects, including but not limited to the RNA metabolism in human diseases, characterizing newly defined effectors of nonsense-mediated mRNA decay ( NMD ), or the mechanistic coupling of RNA processing and turnover on spinocerebellar ataxia type 10 (SCA10) and beyond.

A background in neuroscience and/or stem-cell biology would facilitate the work on NMD


A background in computational biology would facilitate all projects, but neither is required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in appropriate discipline and 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related fields with some lab work experience.
  • Basic understanding of chemistry and biology. Training will be provided in laboratory skills and how to perform biological experiments using culturing mammalian cells.
  • MS Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) are preferred, particularly the use of Excel.
  • Must be able to think independently, maintain meticulous records, and have good judgment about when to seek advice from others when there is a problem.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with other laboratory personnel.

Physical Demands
Salary Range $35,000 - $38,000
Additional Salary Information The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate.
