Job Summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is hiring for Research Assistant II, Shah Lab

Dr. Shah's Focused Ultrasound Lab is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a passion for medicine and technology to join our team. This position is tailored for individuals holding at least a Bachelor's degree in a medically related field or computer science field with a keen interest in medical research and innovation. One of the focuses of our lab is High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) to treat essential tremor patients, offering incisionless procedures that provide immediate symptom relief. Our ongoing work serves to improve patient outcomes through a personalized medicine approach. This role is an excellent fit for someone considering medical school or graduate studies by providing hands-on experience in medical imaging and treatment research related to healthcare. Motivated Individuals will have the opportunity to participate in the authorship of peer-reviewed publications and presentations/posters at national conferences.

Experience and Education

• Bachelor's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and no experience required.
• Two (2) years college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment and two (2) years of laboratory experience at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent.
• High school graduation or GED and four (4) years laboratory experience to include two (2) years at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent.

Job Duties

• Performs routine scientific and medical research work in science area such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other related scientific field. Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
• Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.
• Assists in collection of data for project reports.
• Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.
• May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phase of research project.
• Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
