Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Office Engineer, we'll count on you to:

• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the document

• Maintain accurate daily records of the contractor's daily activities and the work performed, and of the labor, equipment and materials used

• Review construction materials for Contract compliance

• Track quantities and develop pay estimates for acceptance

• Attend and/or chair construction progress meeting

• Conduct observations of the installation and acceptance testing of completed equipment and system

• Identify nonconforming work, develop project punchlists and maintain until corrected

• Develop record documentation for engineer review/acceptance

• Assist with project audit/closeout

• Work under general supervision of a more-senior Resident Project Representative or Design Project Manager

• Supervise and direct the activities of junior Resident Project Representatives and Construction Inspectors, testing services and subconsultant

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or other engineering degree, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated construction experience on multidisciplinary projects
  • Must have a fundamental understanding of contracts and familiarity with codes and laws governing construction
  • Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must be computer literate, experience with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or related construction packages
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills


Preferred Qualification

  • EIT/PE
  • 5+ years experience with transit related clients such as MTA's NYC Transit, Long Island Railroad or Metro North Railroad
  • 30-hour OSHA, track training, PMG 123 and EIC Blue Card
  • Previous construction experience with a consulting firm
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules
  • Able to problem solve and provide possible solutions to the engineer
  • Local candidates preferred

The expected compensation range for this position is $74,900 - $123,050 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
