ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job's purpose and objectives. 1. Responsible for maintaining Respiratory Care equipment inventories in the main department, satellite areas throughout the hospital, in the NICU and in Neurodiagnostics.
a. Re-order equipment and supplies as needed.

b. Disassemble, clean, re-assemble, test and deliver Respiratory Care equipment.

2. Disassemble, clean, re-assemble, test and deliver Respiratory Care equipment. If the equipment initially does not pass testing, able to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

3. Maintains inventory of oxygen cylinders as observed by manager.
a. Responsible for notifying patient care areas when they have exceeded their NFPA allowable number of oxygen cylinders.

b. Responsible for removing broken gauges from service.

4. Sets up oxygen cylinders and assures proper usage and safety measures are in place.

5. Delivers Respiratory Care equipment as directed by the staff, supervisors and managers.
6. Make daily rounds in patient care areas to check, monitor, document, and charge for respiratory equipment.

7. Assists the with equipment administrative documentation as required.
a. Maintain supplies of treatment cards, flowsheets, renewal stickers and other administrative forms.

8. Verbalize the differences with oxygen delivery systems (i.e., nasal, venuturi mask).

9. Be able to determine when measuring devices and other applicable respiratory equipment are not functioning properly.

10. Technology - Embraces technological solutions to work processes and practices.
a. Utilizes the Meditech and computer systems to facilitate work functions.

b. Demonstrates the ability to proficiently learn to how to deal with new computer based technology.

11. Safety Awareness - Fosters a "Culture of Safety" through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment.
a. Makes appropriate use of personal protective equipment at all times.

b. Adheres to respiratory etiquette guidelines and universal precautions.

c. Appropriately disposes of hazardous materials.

d. Adheres to electrical safety guidelines.

e. Utilizes proper body mechanics when performing all aspects of the job

f. Maintains a neat and organized work environment.

Non-essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that are not critical to the performance of the job. Following are non-essential functions of the job, along with the corresponding performance standards.

1. Other duties as required.

As requested, perform rounds throughout the hospital for the purposes of preparing for inspections, assisting with departmental functions or contributing to a performance improvement initiative.

2. Makes rounds with department managers and supervisors as required.

3. When requested, provides guidance to any other personnel. May perform other related duties as directed.
