The Scripps Health Emergency Nursing Transition Program is a 12-week program that facilitates the transition of RNs with varied clinical backgrounds to an advanced beginner Emergency (ED/ER) Nurse.

During the program, trainees are supported as they develop knowledge and skills to care for the challenging and varied population of patients that seek care in the Emergency Department setting. The classroom portion is system-wide. Positions and clinical training are site-based.

The program utilizes four teaching modalities:
  • eLearning - Scripps specific modules and modules based on the Emergency Nursing Association core curriculum
  • Lectures that generalize the didactic to the bedside
  • Hands-on skills and simulation learning
  • Clinical orientation with trained preceptors in the Emergency Departments across the system
At the end of the program, trainees will transition to a full-time position on their unit. Additionally, trainees should expect to work the night shift on their unit after the completion of the program unless otherwise specified by the hiring leader.
