Position Summary

Responsible for the organization of patient care for the Trauma Center. Coordinates patient care services with an emphasis on clinical guidelines and outcomes management. Trauma Coordinator leads, directs and negotiates through collaboration with physicians and staff to promote care delivery that assures efficiency/clinical outcomes, and cost effectiveness at entity.
Essential Functions
  • Program development and ongoing program maintenance for Trauma Center.
  • Evaluates and ensure compliance with all Trauma Center accreditations as well as the American College of Surgeons Level III certification requirements.
  • Coordination of care for trauma patients.
  • Demonstration of progressive leadership
  • Actively participates in communication with physicians and other health care members
  • Acts a resource for nursing and direct care providers, supports patient education/outreach activities
  • Plans and oversees ongoing education/in-services related to the care of trauma patients
  • Acts as liaison between GMC, CMC, other hospital systems and community resources to collaborate on system projects related to trauma care.
  • Assists in obtaining performance improvement (PI) data and developing PI projects for trauma service lines.
  • Represents Trauma Center on hospital committee's as designated
  • Involved in learning and self-improvement

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.


Qualifications:
Education
  • (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred

Work Experience
  • 3+ years progressive clinical and management experience in nursing required
  • Experience with public speaking, excellent oral and written presentation skills required
  • 3+ years experience in ED, ICU or SDU required

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal, as well as, exhibiting strong organizational skills and work ethic required
  • Demonstrates a professional demeanor when responding to patients/customers required
  • Demonstrates progressive knowledge in data management, outcomes management. Demonstrates competence in adult nursing with emphasis in trauma required
  • Expertise in the coordination of patient services and care for trauma patients required
  • Strong knowledge of technology and software applications required
  • Trauma database and trauma registry required
  • Demonstrates skills in problem solving, communication, teaching, and physical assessment required
  • Skills in developing processes and practices to increase compliance with defined patient care outcomes. Interpersonal skills, leadership ability and experience as both a nursing and pre-hospital educator required

Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required

Additional Licenses and Certifications
  • BTLS, PBTLS & PEPP ENPC provider certification preferred
  • TNCC Required
