The Safety Manager is responsible for the communication, implementation, and enforcement of Plateau's safety plan.

Position Description

Specifics of the role

  • Manages various aspects of our Safety, Health, and Environmental programs.
  • Develops and implements site specific safety plans to ensure compliance with OSHA, owners, clients, and other government regulations.
  • Develops site-specific Job Hazard Analysis to recognize hazards and reduce risks.
  • Recommends and establishes plans, policies, and procedures for safety at all levels.


What we expect

  • Performs jobsite inspections, conducts safety and orientation training, and prepares safety reports as required by company procedures and customers' requirements.
  • Performs daily inspections on all equipment and ensures that the operator has conducted their daily safety checklist.
  • Investigates near misses, incidents, and accidents and assists the Corporate Safety Director in completing accident reports.
  • Performs daily inspections at our sites for OSHA compliance.
  • Re-enforces general contractor's site-specific safety requirements and our company's safety requirements.
  • Performs accident/incident reporting and investigations.
  • Attends project safety meetings.
  • Reviews onsite crews Job Hazard Analysis.
  • Reviews and conducts Toolbox Safety Meetings.
  • Reviews and updates SDS manuals.


Items to know

  • Travel is required for this position due the nature of our work. Our projects are typically based in the Southeast, and we have recently expanded our footprint in other East Coast areas. Travel could consist of day-travel, multi-day travel, or work onsite for a project from a few weeks to monthly.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction safety or Associate's degree in the safety field or 5 years of experience in a safety role related to heavy civil construction? 3 to 5 years of experience as a safety professional
  • OSHA 30 Hour
  • CPR, First Aid, AED Certified
