BASIC OVERVIEW

The Safety Manager is responsible for a variety of safety duties, including overseeing day-to-day service and repairs, capital improvements, and ensuring a safe workplace for all employees. This position maintains extensive knowledge of the various operations protocols and identifies areas for improved efficiencies while maintaining Company safety policies. The Safety Manager supervises all Safety employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Advise management on any updates or changes related to warehouse safety
  • Manage safety protocols for heavy equipment maintenance and service; oversee new hire training related to equipment operations and safety procedures
  • Maintain and update all certifications required for warehouse personnel which may include, but is not limited to: CPR, First Aid, AED, and Lift certifications?
  • Maintain current knowledge of government safety standards and regulations; conduct in-house inspections and/or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure proper compliance within the property of the WebstaurantStore
  • Maintain relationships with current local emergency service providers, to include EMS and law enforcement. Facilitate walkthroughs as needed to assess policy and procedures, the goal is to ensure management is properly prepared to coordinate with local emergency officials if an event occurs.
  • Ensure that all Hazmat material is being properly stored and disposed of in accordance with government regulations
  • Ensure that all SDS books are updated monthly and meet current regulations
  • Ensure that all lockout-tagout procedures are maintained and followed by support staff and warehouse employees. The scope of which includes authorized, affected and other personnel who work within the operation
  • In partnership with management, lead the accident investigation process to identify root cause and/or determine how accidents may be prevented in the future
  • In partnership with management and corporate Safety, facilitate interactive processes for ADA accommodations, Worker's Compensation, Return to Work, and Light Duty assignments
  • Conduct warehouse walkthroughs, complete monthly fire extinguisher and eye wash station inspections, and report findings to management and Corporate Safety Coordinator on a regular basis with any regulatory questions, findings or any other safety issues
  • Ensure policies, procedures exist for all guests, visitors or contractors are compliant while on company property
  • Provide weekly updates to the management team regarding workplace safety issues
  • Be present for alternate shifts as new hires receive safety orientation and required training?
  • Perform monthly safety meetings with each department/shift
  • Promote company culture and ensure standards are maintained
  • Responsible for updating emergency response plan binder and ensuring proper training for affected personnel
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of emergency evacuation procedures and conduct routine drills as needed
  • Responsible for analyzing data to identify trends and solutions. Setting goals, tracking progress toward goals and influencing peers to buy-in to safety related programs is expected and will be considered as part of job effectiveness
  • Assess talent, interview, coach, develop, train gaps in skillsets, performance manage, engage, motivate, and reward performance in accordance with company policies
  • Collaborate with all partners to ensure fast, effective solutions are designed and implemented to reduce safety risks in all areas of operation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in maintenance and facilities environment required; forklift certification preferred
  • Knowledge of general safety and OSHA regulations; OSHA 30-hour certification preferred

  • Ability to work off-shift as required to respond to urgent needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to quickly adapt as business needs change; ability to address difficult situations with diplomacy and emotional intelligence
  • Customer service-oriented attitude with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations
  • Ability to work at elevations of up to 40 feet

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  • Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift / carry 50-75lbs. and push / pull up to 150lbs.
