Position Summary

Responsible for daily scheduling of patients and exams for Radiology and Vascular Lab using the hospital approved scheduling systems, such as RIS and Cerner. Perform all duties associated with the process to include but not limited to insurance authorizations, coordinating scheduling and needs for various services.

Duties of a Scheduler - Radiology may include the following but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for daily scheduling of patients and exams for Radiology and Vascular Lab using the hospital approved scheduling systems, such as RIS & Cerner. Obtain patient demographic and financial information regarding procedures.
  • Maintain a professional appearance as well as an organized and clean workspace and adhere to department policies and procedures.
  • Follows procedure area attire policy as well as hand-washing policy.
  • Required to teach appropriate hospital personnel in accordance with the guideline and teaching objectives of the department.
  • Complete annual physical, recertification, compliance and all other required training programs when needed and as assigned.


Qualifications

Required: Associate's degree and at least 1 year of customer service experience in a medical/healthcare setting or, in lieu of degree, at least 2 years of customer service experience. Critical Thinking and problem-solving skills, with excellent organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail. Ability to work as an efficient team member and have superior written and expressive communication skills.

Preferred: Radiology experience. Knowledge of hospital computer systems (Imagecast and Cerner EWS). Knowledge of insurance & managed care requirements.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:
  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

*The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $43,372 - $49,550 / year.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

In addition, all UUP positions have an additional $3,400 for location,
