Qualifications:
  • Must hold valid Alabama Certification in the field of Educational Administration and Supervision from an accredited educational institution.
  • Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
  • Must have a strong educational background with a minimum of three years of teaching experience in public education.
  • Supervisory or administrative experience preferred.
  • Must have positive people skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to help supervise both large and small groups.
  • Should possess good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to follow directives and help direct the focus of the total school program.
  • Must provide evidence of professional development activities relating to current educational trends.
  • Establishes and maintains effective, professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
  • Abides by the Alabama Educator Code of Ethics.
  • Valid Alabama Driver's License.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate commitment to and support for the vision and mission of the system and school.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs and activities at the assigned school.
  • Assist the principal in providing an atmosphere conducive to learning and teaching.
  • Assist in coordinating the selection and acquisition of instructional materials and equipment.
  • Assist in coordinating and supervising all testing programs at the school.
  • Assist the principal in selecting, supervising, and evaluating school-based personnel.
  • Assist the principal in developing and coordinating policies and procedures for the operation of the school program and services.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the code of student conduct in accordance with school and system policy to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment and appropriate disciplinary procedures.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of an effective staff development program.
  • Assist in overseeing programs for students with identified special needs.
  • Assist in developing and implementing family and community involvement programs and business partnerships.
  • Analyze student performance data as a basis for curriculum improvement and staff development needs.
  • Assist in the selection and supervision of substitute personnel.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring the school budget.
  • Assist in managing student accounting and attendance procedures.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
  • Counsel with students, parents, and staff to resolve problems and concerns.
  • Maintain visibility and accessibility on the school campus and at school-related activities and extra-curricular events.
  • Collaborate with school and system personnel in planning and implementing system initiatives.
  • Assist in developing and implementing positive public relations for the school.
  • Assist the principal in the development and implementation of procedures for dealing with school crises.
  • Investigate student accidents and other incidents and take appropriate action.
  • Provide assistance with the local school guidance program.
  • Assist in the development of the school's master schedule.
  • Assist in the supervision of loading and loading of buses.
  • Improve skills and knowledge through in-service and other professional development programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Length of Contract/Terms:
  • Ten months (202 days) Elementary/Middle
  • Twelve months (240 days) High

As per Board salary schedule for this position

This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Calhoun County Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by the Calhoun County School System.

Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
