Insight Global is seeking a Software Engineer to support a federal client in Suffolk, VA. The Software Engineer will be responsible for building and improving software by working with a Product Owner, Scrum Master, and other Engineers by translating functional requirements into robust, scalable, and supportable solutions. You will participate in the full SDLC, and actively troubleshot issues in support of applications in production critical environments. The Software Engineer's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strong development fundamentals including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, JavaScript, Python, or C++
Knowledge of best practices for the full SDLC, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing operations

Required Skills & Experience

2 years' experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years' experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience

Educational requirements may be adjusted for applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
- A sound understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and software design patterns
- Understanding of system architecture and experience with distributed systems
- Experience utilizing Agile methodologies and principles as well as Agile frameworks
- Experience with collaboration, development tracking, and version control systems such as Confluence, Jira, and Git
- Proficiency in Java and JavaScript
- Knowledge of web-based runtime environments such as NodeJS and web application frameworks such as AngularJS and ReactJS
- Knowledge of web-based runtime environments such as NodeJS and web application frameworks such as AngularJS and ReactJS
- Knowledge of application abstraction and container fundamentals
- Experience with container runtime environments such as Docker and container-orchestration systems such as Kubernetes
- Design and development in Relationship and NoSQL/Graph databases
- Development in a Linux environment
