POSITION SUMMARY
To be fully engaged in providing Uncompromised Safety, Superior Quality, Memorable Patient/Customer Experiences, and Financial Stewardship through unarmed security services to ensure the safety and security of associates, patients, and visitors of Health First facilities.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Responsible for internal and external mobile patrol of facility assigned, including Emergency Department if hospital facility
2. Responds to behavioral emergencies with combative patients, customers and associates
3. Deters criminal activity and misconduct; investigates suspicious situations; performs security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle
4. Communicates via 2-way radios, telephones and computers
5. Watches for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
6. Sounds alarms or calls police/fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons
7. Warns violators of rule infractions such as loitering, smoking or carrying prohibited articles
8. Permits authorized persons to enter property and monitors entrances and exits
9. Observes departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensures authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate physical security requirements
10. Conducts patient escorts, patient watches, and provides safety escorts
11. Assists and/or transports deceased to morgue
12. Completes required shift logs and reports; complies with site post orders, and Health First policies and procedures
13. Investigates and prepares reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities
14. Assists associates, patients, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
15. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed by department supervision
16. Maintains required certifications, licensing, and training to achieve professional competency as appropriate for the position

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must meet at least one of the following education or experience requirements:
o Graduate of Police/Corrections Academy
o Associates Degree or above in Criminal Justice
o Active Military (4 year term of service minimum)
o Law enforcement experience
o Service in the Elite Military Forces, Military Police, or combat arms
o At least one year of verifiable security officer experience
• Licensure:
o Current, valid driver's license required. State of Florida driver's license required within 30 days of establishing Florida residency and maintain
o Clean State of Florida Motor Vehicle Record and maintain
o Class "D" Security Officer License preferred
• Certification:
o Must complete American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED Course within 60 days of hire and maintain certification
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
o Expected completion of Crisis Prevention Training within first 90 days
o Physical ability to deal with or subdue mental health patient in crisis
o Must be willing to carry out tasks that may require entering the hospital morgue and the roof-top helipad
o Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
o Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
o Effective oral and written communication skills
o Active listening skills
o Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
o Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
o Attention to detail

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to climb up to nine (9) flights of stairs
• Must be able to withstand extreme heat and cold
• Must be able to listen, speak, walk, stand, bend and stoop for extended periods of time, for entire 8+ hour shift
• Must be able to lift & carry up to 50 pounds
• Must be able & willing to properly wear Personal Protective mask & gloves for entire 8+ hour shift
• Must be able to respond within 90-seconds of an urgent duress call
