Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Serving a multi-campus academic environment, the Security Officer Senior joins a team of law enforcement and security professionals to provide safety and security to students, faculty, and visitors to Reynolds. The Security Officer Senior will maintain order and uphold the image and respect of the department and the college through a high level of customer service and the enforcement of state laws and college policies and procedures. Ability to work flexible schedules (morning, evening, night, or weekend shifts) at any of the college’s locations is required.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Considerable working knowledge of safety and security concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques. Demonstrated skill in the use of security vehicles, communication equipment, alarm systems, and other types of security equipment. Demonstrated ability to react appropriately in emergency situations, write factual reports, and to explain and ensure compliance with policies, rules, and regulations. Must hold a current CDL or have the ability to obtain a CDL (with satisfactory driving history). Must hold current certification or have the ability to obtain certification as a campus security officer as mandated by the Department of Criminal Justice Services ( DCJS ).
Additional Considerations
Current CPR and First Aid Training Certification. Ability to develop and implement security policies and procedures.
Operation of a State Vehicle Yes Supervises Employees No Required Travel
This position will have work duties on all the college campuses and locations.
