Job Responsibilities:
Position Summary: The Security Supervisor provides coordination, supervision, training, leadership, quality assurance and evaluation regarding all aspects of security for WCS facilities and programs. This position reports to the Director of Facilities and Security and works with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the Senior Leadership team, and the IT Director. This position is responsible for reviewing and developing policies, procedures, and protocols for ensuring the security and safety of all WCS programs and facilities. The position is required to be available on a 24/7 basis to address emergency safety concerns as necessary.

Essential Functions:

• Coordinates and monitors the overall security and safety operations for all WCS facilities and programs.

• Assists with maintenance of the safety and security components of the agency's Emergency Operations Plans and Business Continuity Plans at the various program sites and administrative building.

• Works with the security vendor and acts as the liaison between program leaders and the vendor to ensure all program's security needs are met.

• Provides staff training, leadership, quality assurance and evaluation regarding all aspects of safety and security for WCS buildings and programs.

• Ensures that all shifts and programs with security needs are properly staffed by the security staff and security vendor as required, and that all incidents regarding individuals served involving security within programs at the agency are properly documented and addressed.

• Works with the program leaders to ensure that all staff who serve in a security capacity are properly trained and follow all security and safety protocols and procedures.

• Assists with the recruitment, hiring, training and evaluation of security personnel.

• Develops policies, procedures, and protocols for ensuring the security and safety of all WCS programs and facilities for both staff and individuals served. All policies and procedures must be in accordance with the expectations of the Bureau of Prisons and the Statement of Work, the Department of Corrections, and other funding sources, as applicable.

• Checks, as required, all locking devices, alarms, and security equipment, including cameras.

• Ensures all required emergency evacuation drills for fire and severe weather, active shooter, and CARF related drills are completed and documented.

• Develops and implements a system to maintain control of contraband, discipline, and prevent the introduction of contraband into the facility.

• Oversees and supervises timely submission of reports and documentation such as disciplinary, accident, incident and, medical reports.

• Ensures all Security staff are trained in agency-required evidence-based practices.

• Assists program leaders, as needed, in the day-to-day security activities of the facility.

• Assists program leaders with performance reviews for all internal security staff at WCS.

• Performs all other duties related to this position as directed.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensures coverage by the security vendor as needed to meet facility staff coverage needs.

• Takes appropriate action to prevent or diffuse potentially disruptive behavior.

• Attends training sessions and staff meetings as required.

• Submits work orders to WCS Facilities department and WCS IT as related to security needs in the programs.

Job Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be knowledgeable in assessing and intervening in situations that present risks, and compromise safety and security. Must be knowledgeable and proficient/advanced in the use of computers and relevant software applications. Must have knowledge of corrections procedures and practices, and principles of supervision and training. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness. Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, co-workers, agency executives, and contractors. Ability to exercise and use good judgment at all times. Ability to work under deadlines and time pressures. Ability to develop and implement security and safety procedures and protocols. Ability to communicate effectively and in a positive manner with staff and residents. Ability to respond appropriately in a crisis situation. Sensitivity toward cultural, ethnic, and disability issues. Ability to learn evidence based best practices, apply skills learned, and model and teach these skills to Security staff.

Minimal Qualifications:
  • Five years' work experience in a security role
  • Two years' experience supervising or training staff preferred.
  • Must have valid driver's license, automobile, and insurance sufficient to meet agency requirements.
  • Must clear Caregiver and Background checks prior to hire.

Work Relationship and Scope:

Reports directly to the Director Facilities and Security, VP of Finance/CFO, and when required to the Executive Leadership Team, and Senior Leadership Team. Supervises and manages all agency security and interacts with program leaders on a continuous basis. Works closely with the security vendor for all security coverage at all program sites as required. Significant and continuous interaction with individuals served, staff, corrections staff, funding sources, and the general public as required.

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily performed at the Administration building but will require a presence at other program sites. Work is also performed in the community in various settings. Individual performing this job may expect to work in various weather conditions as needed.
