The duties include but are not limited to:
  • Ensures, on behalf of the school and the Army, through proper instruction and supervision that the JROTC Program is administered in his unit in accordance with law, regulation, policy, and principles.
  • Advises school authorities of the provisions of law and regulations affecting the conduct of the program.
  • Maintains good relations with the school authorities, faculty, and student body. Conducts public affairs programs in local areas, among school and community officials, civic groups, parent-teacher groups and other individuals designed to enhance the prestige of the Army JROTC, and thereby the school institution and the US Army.
  • Enrolls students in the JROTC program and supports school officials in the conduct of these programs.
  • Drafts procedures, in coordination with the head of the institution, relating to the administration, control, and training of JROTC cadets, including appointment, promotion, and demotion of cadet officers and non-commissioned officers for approval by the head of the institution in accordance with Army Regulation 145-2.
  • Establishes extra-curricular activities consisting of marksmanship, drill, athletics, and social events to enhance the program.
  • Attends Army JROTC summer camp with cadets from his school when directed by the DAI.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the DAI.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a citizen of the United States.

Must be retired from the active Army with at least twenty (20) years of honorable service. Must be certified by the US Army to teach the Army JROTC program.

Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree with the rank of Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel or Colonel; additionally a Warrant Officer or Non-commissioned Officer can serve as the SAI if the individual possesses a BA/BS degree. (Army Regulations CCR145-2)

Must meet and maintain medical and personal appearance standards as directed by the United States Army and pass a Government background check.

SALARY: Based on contractual agreement between the Army and the Mobile County Public School System.

**Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.**
