As a leader within the Office of Admissions, the Senior Assistant Director (Sr. AD) leads and executes the undergraduate student recruitment and application evaluation process, including supervising professional Admissions staff. The Sr. AD provides continuous training, holistic development, and professional growth for these employees while ensuring the freshmen recruitment and evaluation process runs effectively. Specific responsibilities include overseeing application review workflows, managing dedicated recruitment and application CRM (Slate) data, serving as the liaison to campus partners for unique admission processes, and other essential operations. In conjunction with the Associate Director of Freshmen Recruitment, the Sr. AD serves on the Admissions Recruitment Leadership team, assisting with strategic development within undergraduate admissions, recruitment, and operations strategy and project allocation. This position also maintains a recruitment territory, serving as admissions counselor to students & families, and evaluates student applications. Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Supervise Admission staff with an emphasis on undergraduate recruitment and application evaluation. The Senior Assistant Director will manage on-boarding and training programs for these employees, as well as complete annual performance reviews. This position will also provide frequent feedback to assist with performance improvement and professional development, and help these employees gain skills and competencies as they engage with their responsibilities, both individual and team-wide.
  • Evaluate undergraduate student applications for admission and scholarship awards to Towson University through a holistic review process, including student-athletes and other specific cohorts. Assist with ensuring evaluation timelines are kept and staff are continuously trained on evaluation policies and procedures.
  • Counsel prospective, admitted, and enrolled undergraduate students on admission to TU. Represent TU by providing excellent customer service to all students and families via phone, chat, and email, as well as via in-person and virtual meetings. Understand admissions policies and requirements and serve as a resource to ensure success within the Admissions Recruitment Team. Conduct information presentations both on- and off-campus throughout the year.
  • Under the direction of the Associate Director, assist with the development of strategic plans for admission recruitment, operations, and marketing. Develop partnerships both within TU and with external constituents to assist with recruitment and yield efforts. Assist with staff trainings, and policy development/execution ensure success within undergraduate admissions. This position serves as a senior leader of the Recruitment Team.
  • Manage a recruitment territory, visiting high schools and/or community colleges, attending college fairs, and participating in workshops/panels both in-person and virtually throughout the year. Serve as liaison to develop relationships with high school counselors, alumni, and community-based organizations to enhance the network and brand of TU. Provide recruitment support as needed for office-wide recruitment events & outreach efforts. Utilize data and enrollment trends to develop a recruitment and outreach strategy for their territory and complete a territory report and analysis to assist with recruitment & outreach efforts.
  • Complete general admissions duties including, but not limited to, customer service, applicant processing, holistic review, on-campus events, special projects, campus committees, and any other duties as assigned as need to meet the needs of enrollment and the goals of the university.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • At least five years of professional work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to present to groups of diverse audiences in various types of venues.
  • Must pay attention to detail, possess strong organizational and analytical skills, and be comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Must have the ability to travel independently and on short notice.

Preferred:

  • Professional experience as a supervisor in an undergraduate admissions office.


Salary and Benefits

Starting salary is $71,000. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
