Job Description

As a Senior Data Architect, IT in AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS), you'll have opportunities to contribute to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, helping to create solutions that impact patients and their communities for the better.

Leads the strategic design and development of data architecture, that include data modeling, data integration, data consumption methods, data services etc., to support Patient Services and Consumer Marketing functions. The Senior Data Architect partners with IT strategy and planning team, Enterprise Architecture, Commercial Analytics & Operations, Marketing, and Data Governance teams to ensure the delivery of quality, consistent and reliable data products & solutions.

In this role, you'll be responsible for:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of pharmaceutical and healthcare business and utilize this knowledge to lead the strategy, design and architecture of bigdata products and solutions that are scalable and extensible . Provides in-depth functional & technical expertise for developing data products to solve complex business needs. Review, validate and enhance conceptual, logical & physical database designs. Define data management standards & best practices covering data architecture modeleing, data integration approach, data access methods, data security, metadata management, data quality etc.
  • Understands and adheres to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle.
  • Understands organization's vision, goals and strategies. Aligns department priorities appropriately, determines critical success factors, evaluates and pursues initiatives, investments and opportunities based on fit with strategies. Champion change and innovation. Stimulates creativity and innovation in others. Open to new ideas.
  • Creates a collaborative working relationships with key IT partners such as Solution Architects & Application Architects, as well as with key Business stakeholders to understand the organization's business strategy, specific business processes, and provide clear directions to technical teams for accurate data delivery.
  • Responsible for overall organizational effectiveness. Establish and maintain high-quality relationships with all levels across the company and with external partners.
  • Provides leadership in adherence to processes by performing design walk through and approvals, reviewing solution architectures, drives data literacy by maintaining a reference architecture with the data domain specifications.
  • Partners with Platform Architecture team in evaluating new database utilities & tools, leads Proof of Concepts and Proof of Technologies, and drives implementation of new data capabilities within the data ecosystem


Qualifications

What makes you a strong candidate for this role:

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree with 8 years experience; Master's Degree with 7 years experience; PhD with 3 years experience.
  • Experience in implementing cloud based data solutions using AWS services such as EC2, S3, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, Glue and big data tools like Spark, EMR, Hadoop etc.
  • Hands on experience on data profiling, data modeling and data engineering using relational databases like Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server; ETL tools like Informatica IICS; scripting using Python, R, or Scala; workflow management tools like Autosys
  • Experience in Java, JMS, SOAP, REST, JSON, XML technologies, along with Unix or Linux scripting and stream processing systems like Kafka, Spark streaming etc
  • Experience on data cataloging and data lineage tools like Alation, Collibra, Manta etc., and hands on experience in Agile delivery methodology, Scrum / Kanban frameworks and agile project management tools like JIRA, Confluence etc.
  • Good business acumen and ability to negotiate with business & BTS stakeholders, and good executive presence with excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills.

Beneficial:
  • AWS Certification as Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect, Developer/Data Engineer.
  • Understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning concepts.
  • Experience with reporting tools like PowerBI or Tableau.
  • Work experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
