What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, build, and maintain all aspects of an enterprise data infrastructure - such as pipelines, warehouses, and data marts - from scratch.
  • Store and process large volumes of data within a complex database system, using batch and real-time processing.
  • Integration of data from various sources, both internal and external.
  • Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Implement and maintain data security measures.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Set up monitoring systems to detect and address data processing issues.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to guarantee data is available and easily accessed.
  • Performance optimization of a large, growing recordset to support transactional web applications, data pipelines, and denormalized OLAP systems.

Location and Travel Details

This is a remote position with occasional travel (if needed).

Security Clearance and Citizenship Requirements

Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

Profile of Success

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science.
  • Eight or more years of data engineering experience with strong T-SQL development, including definition of ER models and star schemas for transactional and data warehouse environments, ETL processing for both full and incremental loads, stored procedure coding, data migrations, and performance optimization.
  • Expertise working with ETL tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or dbt.
  • Experience with data analytical tools such as SSAS or Snowflake.
  • Experience with building report models and data warehouses, to enable report development.
  • Experience performing data wrangling operations to support downstream analysis workloads.
  • Experience handling ETL failures stemming from incompatible datasets, rows, or service interruption by designing for fault tolerance - detecting, skipping, and logging of incompatible data.
  • C# coding with ASP.Net/ASP.Net Core.
  • Ability to stay current with the latest technological trends.
  • Ability to independently research and propose design solutions that will enhance functionality and increase efficiency of business processes.
  • Significant experience with code repositories, such as GIT/DevOps, and change control processes, preferably with automation.
  • Ability to respond to executive requests with rapid turnaround and high levels of accuracy.
  • Ability to reverse engineer existing code and debug production support issues
  • Experience with the full SDLC with a focus on agile methodology.
  • Ability to scope out a project plan and perform risk assessments.
  • Sound documentation skills.
  • Develop software systems that are in compliance with industry standards.
  • Ability to communicate concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in design and code reviews.
  • Provide guidance/training to more junior staff.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Big Data Architectures, Batch Processing, and Lambda Architectures.
  • Experience with Azure/AWS cloud technologies with data transformation via DataBricks or dbt.
  • Exposure to Snowflake and/or Databricks.
  • Worked with Change Tracking features of SQL Server or Azure SQL.
  • Experience with report technologies for models and canned reports, such as Power BI or SSRS.
