Position: Senior Data Scientist

Duties: Research and use machine learning and deep learning algorithms that power personalization and other tenants such as Online Grocery. Use big data technologies such as Hive, Spark, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Map-Reduce framework. Build algorithms to handle massive amounts of data generated on the web and make data driven inferences at scale. Stay up to date on the latest data science and software engineering technologies being used within the personalization team such as but not limited to Hive, MapReduce framework, Python, Bash scripting, Couchbase, Machine Learning packages such as Scikit-Learn, and Numpy visualization packages such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, and Plotly. Collaborate with other team members in personalization data engineering, modeling, and web services to deliver key projects. Participate in designing different components in personalization backend systems, from data collection to enabling machines to make data-driven decisions at scale, thus building highly scalable and relevant solutions to drive key business projects. Clearly articulate work and document, track, and present accomplished tasks through tools such as Jira, Github, and Confluence. Analyze customer and catalog data to build state-of-the-art personalized item recommendation models.

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field.

Skills required: Experience coding in object-oriented programming concepts using Python. Experience with machine learning principles and algorithms: classification, clustering, and Principal Component Analysis. Experience with recommender system techniques: Collaborative Filtering, Content-b based filtering, and Factorization Machines. Experience with deep learning principles and algorithms including deep neural networks, auto encoders, and transformers. Experience creating static and interactive visualizations using Python and R packages including ggplot2, Matplotlib, t-SNE, Plotly, and Seaborn for exploratory data analysis. Experience implementing machine learning and data science projects using software tools including Scikit-learn, Numpy, PyTorch, Tensorflow, OpenCV, NLTK, and Pandas. Experience with Big Data Technologies: Spark, Hadoop, and Map-reduce Framework. Experience with AWS, GCP, and workflow management software Airflow. Experience with task tracking using Jira, Github, and Confluence. Experience with statistics and probability using hypothesis testing, bootstrapping, analysis of variance, and Bayesian inferencing. Experience with data structures and algorithms: Queues, LinkedList, trees, Hashmaps, and Graphs. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.

Salary Range: $168,154/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
