We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Senior Database Administrator.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Senior Database Administrator (Senior DBA) with expertise in Epic Operational Database Administration (ODBA), Epic Cogito, and MS SQL. Experience with Open Source databases, Oracle or Linux is a plus for this position. The ideal candidate will play a vital role as a team member managing, optimizing, and securing our large and diverse database environment, ensuring seamless operation and data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Epic ODBA Management: Oversee the operational aspects of the Epic database environment, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • SQL Database Administration: Install, configure, maintain, and optimize MS SQL Server engines and databases, ensuring data integrity, availability, and performance.
  • Epic Cogito Database Administration: Manage the MS SQL environments in support of the Epic Cogito data warehousing environment.
    Other Database Administration: Willingness to learn other database environments in support of the overall company mission. These will include Open
  • Source database platforms (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and/or Oracle. Expected tasks would include installation, configuration, backup and recovery, and security.
  • Database Performance Optimization: Collaborate with application teams to optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing strategies, and database schema design.
  • Data Governance: Implement and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, security, and compliance of databases and data assets.
  • Data Migration and Integration: Lead or assist in data migration projects, ensuring seamless integration and data consistency across systems.
  • Linux Environment Support: Provide basic support for databases deployed on Linux environments, including system administration tasks and troubleshooting.
  • Monitoring and Alerting: Develop and implement proactive monitoring solutions to identify and address database performance issues, security threats, and potential failures.
  • Documentation and Training: Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices, and provide training and support to IT staff and end-users as needed.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with application teams, system administrators, and IT stakeholders to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and alignment of database and system configurations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about emerging technologies, best practices, and industry trends in database administration, and recommend improvements to enhance system performance, reliability, and security.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with expertise in MS SQL Server, Epic ODBA, and Epic Cogito.
  • Epic Operational Database Administration certification (ODBAC) preferred. Willingness to earn certification will be required.
  • Experience with Open Source database platforms is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle database administration is a plus.
  • Experience with database monitoring and alerting tools.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Familiarity with Linux system administration is a plus.
  • Strong technical skills in database administration, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Must be reliable, self-motivated, trustworthy and disciplined.
  • This position is 100% remote. Travel will be very limited.
