Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Marketing, the Digital Marketing Specialist works with internal and external marketing teams to integrate, evaluate and optimize digital marketing initiatives and content to drive growth on TravelWisconsin.com and ensure year-over-year success.

This position focuses on all areas of the website, including technical performance and maintenance, content updates through a content management system (CMS), working directly with an outside web vendor, developing and interpreting reports, and integrating branding and digital marketing tactics with the website to meet and exceed goals.

This position assists with the development and execution of website and digital marketing strategies that can improve performance across the website and the digital marketing channels that supply traffic to the website, working closely with vendors and internal marketing teams to implement. This includes, but is not limited to, organic search, paid search, digital advertising, email marketing and social media. This position requires the ability to integrate marketing and branding initiatives in the digital space; applying SEO and marketing communications through the development of insights and strategic thinking to recommend website projects that drive growth.

This position is headquartered at Travel Wisconsin's office in Madison, WI (3319 West Beltline Highway, Madison, WI 53708) and will have the option of working up to 90% remotely upon agreement of the Supervisor. This schedule may change based on operational needs and organizational requirements. Employees will be required to come into the office for in-person collaboration meetings often occurring on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Employees will be required to report to the Madison office on their first day of employment and work in the office two days per week for the first three months of employment. High-speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work.

Salary Information

This position (Classification: Marketing Specialist-Senior) is in schedule-range 07-03 with a starting hourly rate between $30.00 - $35.01 per hour, plus excellent benefits. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan. A 12- month probationary period is required. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Job Details

Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have all of the following:
  • Experience developing and executing digital marketing plans and strategies for a consumer brand.
  • Experience developing and executing search engine optimization plans and strategies for large, high-traffic websites.
  • Experience managing and maintaining large, high-traffic websites using a content management system.

In addition, well-qualified applicants will have one or more of the following:
  • Experience using Google Analytics, Google Data Studio and marketing dashboards to track performance and recommend optimizations.
  • Experience deploying content through email and text SMS platforms.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external cross-functional marketing teams to integrate strategies across paid and owned digital touchpoints.
  • Experience managing web development or digital marketing vendors.
