Summary of Position

This position will report to the Senior Vice President of Commercial and have responsibility for supporting the commercial organization in the design, development, and maintenance of programs, processes, tools and practices that will be used needed by the commercial organizations to execute it's strategy and help it achieve the overall sales performance and operational objectives. The role will have responsibility building out and maintaining the commercial systems required for the launch and maintenance of all Curium products. It will also be responsible for execution of sales planning and operations, reporting, analytics, marketing operations, and other operational administrative programs. This position will work in partnership with field sales, marketing management and key internal stakeholders to support, promote and monitor the efficient operation of the field sales force and act as an internal resource for information and planning regarding the business aspects of the sales, marketing and other commercial functions.

Essential Functions

  • Leads the development of the salesforce size and structure.
  • Responsible for the development, deployment, and maintenance of a CRM system, while working in close collaboration with IT.
  • Take responsibility for vendor relationships associated with commercial ops.
  • Work with Marketing, Sales and Market Access to create forecasts and derive field sales objectives that translate to the corporate goals.
  • Aid in the development of targeting tactics, sales call plans and assist sales management in the calculating and monitoring of call capacity, field deployment and monitoring of results.
  • Responsible for the strategy, design, monitoring and administration of annual incentive plans and sales contests for the commercial organization. Drives the process to ensure plans are communicated timely and effectively to field sales teams.
  • Determines optimal sales data sources and ensure data integrity by acting as principal stakeholder for the warehousing and development/distribution of field sales reports by the commercial organization.
  • Designs special reports and conduct ad hoc analyses needed by the commercial leaders.
  • Conduct on going sizing and resource analyses and make recommendations regarding proper distribution and deployment of field sales resources.
  • Oversees the Motus program and administration for the commercial organization.
  • Act as internal contact for marketing, IT, and other inter-departmental coordination efforts requiring sales force/key target information
  • Work with Marketing, Sales and Market Access to develop ROI measures
  • Hire, direct and supervise employees within the commercial operations department along with outside consultants and other third-party contacts as necessary.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. MBA/Advanced degree preferred.
  • 20 or more years of relevant experience in pharmaceuticals or life sciences industry required.
  • 7 or more years of pharmaceutical commercial sales or operations experience is required (sales, marketing, product management, operations)
  • 3 or more years of experience as a people manager, and increasing roles of responsibility in commercial roles
  • Experienced in developing sales forecasts, sales targets and designing sales incentive compensation plans required.
  • Experience with CRM systems required.
  • Previous product launch experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated process development skills with implementation success.
  • Cross-functional collaboration & relationship building
  • Leadership skills and command presence are important since many relationships will be at the VP level and above.
  • Forecasting capabilities to demonstrate long-term forecasts.
  • Data analysis, assimilation, and strategy development
  • Strategic thinking and ability to constructively challenge and influence the decision-making process.
  • Ability to attract, retain, lead, and build a high performing team.
  • Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively translate overall strategies into actionable operational plans and assure implementation.
