Position Summary

The Senior Director of Alumni Relations will serve as a senior level leader and administrator for the Alumni Relations team. The Senior Director will be responsible for the oversight, vision, and to provide a plan for strategic growth of the program to be executed by the staff. The Senior Director will be responsible for developing new programming opportunities for engagement of all alumni, family, and friends. The position will collaborate with, manage, and supervise an Engagement Coordinator in carrying out these efforts.

The Senior Director will oversee and execute specific events for the Office of Alumni Relations. They will manage a portfolio of high-level engagement prospects for the purpose of future philanthropic support. Lastly, the Senior Director will assist the Executive Director of Alumni Relations with the management of the Alumni Board.

Chapter and Program Management
  • Responsible for developing a strategic plan for the Chapters program to ensure the Division of Development & Alumni Relations' (DAR) priority markets and future markets have chapters in place and have strong volunteer leaders in place for each chapter.
  • Manage a team of Chapters staff, fostering an environment of collaboration with Regional Development and other DAR partners to increase productivity of Chapters.
  • Lead Chapters' staff in areas of interpersonal communication, professional development, and problem solving.
  • Regularly communicate with the Director of Alumni Relations to ensure the vision and plans for Chapters are being executed properly.
  • Responsible for the oversight of an annual budget for the chapters program.
  • Build internal relationships with campus colleagues to improve the Chapter experience.
  • Enhance pre- and post-event engagement strategies and best practices for entire Alumni Relations team to follow.

Alumni Board Engagement and Campus Partner Collaboration
  • Provide support to the UGA Alumni Relations Board.
  • Serves as primary liaison to board members as directed by Executive Director.
  • Responsible for assisting the Alumni Board President with meeting planning (3 annual meetings, exec retreat and orientation), accountability for board members, goal tracking for reporting.
  • Oversee the board nomination process as directed by the Executive Director.
  • Supervise Engagement Coordinator and their responsibilities with 40u40, B100, and Alumni Awards processes.
  • Responsible for planning and executing monthly or bi-monthly campus partner meetings.
  • Responsible for developing a campus liaison structure for team to promote strong collaboration and to send/collect volunteer referrals.
  • Serve as primary liaison to the Regional Development team for events and programs as needed.

Other Engagement Programming and Events
  • Research, plan, and execute future engagement programming.
  • Further develop and promote alumni tours program to generate additional scholarship support for experiential learning,
  • Benchmark with peer and aspirational peers to strategically launch new engagement programs and enhance current programs.
  • Serve as a primary lead for planning and execution engagement events and programs (SkySuite, tailgates, ALA, regional partnerships, and other events).
  • Manage the sky suite strategy, invitee list, staffing requirements, ensure sky suite is used strategically, working closely with Executive Director, and assigned Engagement Coordinator who manages sky suite administration.

  • Ensure engagement with constituents is captured in the Giving and Alumni Information Link system (GAIL).
  • Work collaboratively with the communications team to manage Web pages, social media pages, and newsletters.
  • Work collaboratively across all unit functions within the Office of Alumni Relations to ensure all teams can fulfill obligations, meet deadlines, and to consistently maintain business continuity.
