Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Senior Electrical Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers, EITs, and BIM Specialists with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development.
  • Coordinate work of the electrical design team on large institutional/industrial, healthcare, data center projects through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
  • Assume the electrical lead on many data center/mission critical projects.
  • Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule
  • Conduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect and other disciplines.
  • Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
  • Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment, electrical systems and devices.
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents.
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed.
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians
  • Track the financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust the work effort with the team to ensure that the work is completed within the parameters of the agreed-upon schedule.
  • Work with the Project Manager and Regional Controller for project reviews with corporate management as needed.
  • Direct the activities of other electrical engineering professionals, and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 year's experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems.
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
  • Previous healthcare, data center/mission critical experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired.
  • Preference given to local candidates.
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
