Duties : Under general direction of the Manager, Engineering and Test Branch, the incumbent is responsible for conducting complex and difficult assignments, requiring a high level of specialized expertise or unique technical knowledge and skills in performing testing of high voltage electrical equipment and systems, preparing test procedures and reports, providing technical assistance in the implementation of corrective action, and performing contract management relating to the operations and maintenance of the State Water Project (SWP), while complying with and executing the Department's Code of Safe Work Practices.

This position is office-centered which means the incumbent works fifty percent or less of their time monthly from an alternate work location, which can change at any time.

The Department of Water Resources is located in the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) building, which is one of the newest and innovative buildings in Sacramento. The specific essential duties include, but are not limited to: Organize, direct, and assist in specialized testing activities in collaboration with the Electrical Test Section; Prepare clear and concise procedures, reports, and correspondence related to specialized testing of the high voltage electrical equipment and systems of the SWP in accordance with engineering standards and industry best practices; Support the Condition Assessment Program for electrical equipment and systems of the SWP; and assist with contract management activities including development of scopes of work and reviewing invoices for payment.
