Job Description

Senior Finance & Accounting Analyst, Dean's Office, School of Medicine, University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. Prepare, monitor and analyze financial statements for Departments, as assigned, in the School of Medicine including preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; review and analysis of Departments' accounts, monitor payroll expenses, and cash flow management; perform financial forecasting and variance analysis of departments' accounts, provide financial overview updates, and make recommendations for improvements; review and approve journal entries, participate in monthly close process, budget preparation and review budget correction errors; perform detailed account reconciliation; perform clinical performance analysis, RVUs, charges and collections, incentive calculations and pay accruals; analyze departmental clinical revenue and productivity trends and build monitoring tools to track financial activities; review and analyze grants and researchers' accounts, prepare monthly grant activity reports, check projects' milestones, ensure proper spending and close out actions, review and analysis of budget vs actual vs prior years, and review with Principal Investigators; review and track accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing and invoices; perform financial audits and analyze processes to increase efficiency and recommend improvements; communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff; and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related area plus 3 years' experience in Accounting or Finance OR Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field plus one year experience in Accounting or Finance. Requires strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and analysis; strong knowledge of business analytics used for variance analysis and cash-flow; expertise in accounting and financial software; strong knowledge of advanced Excel tools used for financial and accounting analysis; expertise in job costing; ability to analyze processes to increase efficiency and recommend improvements; expertise in financial auditing; demonstrated ability to collaborate with all levels of personnel within the organization regarding financial matters.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $51,875.00 to $72,460.68 annually. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
