Minimum qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience working in a Product Design for Data center platforms technical environment, or 3 years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Experience in manufacturing, hardware validation, and quality control.
  • Experience in hardware platform development managing platforms from concept to production.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Experience as a systems architect for Machine Learning (ML) systems.
  • Experience in representing stakeholders during executive-level planning and prioritization exercises.
  • Excellent leadership skills to define strategy, drive execution, and resolve conflict.
  • Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills in an environment of shifting priorities.


About the job

Google's Cloud Supply Chain and Operations (CSCO) team shapes and strengthen design for operations (e.g., hardware and software) requirements for the next generation of platforms. The main responsibility is to own strategy and drive execution across a portfolio of projects, ranging from network switches to machine learning pods. The goal is to reduce time and cost for platform deployment, maintenance, and repairs.

In this role, you will interface with stakeholders from data center operations, manufacturing, and supply chain to crystallize design for operations requirements. You will influence new platform architectures through technical insights and trade-off analyses with stakeholders from the Hardware Design and Software Architecture teams. You will help mentor experienced team within operations for in-house competence in platforms architecture, both hardware and software.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop the strategic roadmap with stakeholders from data center operations, supply chain, and manufacturing to capture the design for operations requirements.
  • Identify critical user journeys that capture operational requirements (e.g., serviceability, automation, safety, repair cost, and deployment time).
  • Integrate design for operations into the architecture of platforms hardware and software and investigate alternative architectures and roadmaps to enable an optimized system design.
  • Engage in the development of the system architecture including design intent, functional trade-offs, and deployment risks.
  • Align organizational boundaries within the Engineering, Network, Power, Compliance, Safety, Supply Chain, and Data Center Operations team to leverage shared goals and resource.
