Senior Infrastructure Engineer

This position is responsible for providing senior level support and troubleshooting of a wide variety of technology issues, as well as clearly documenting and communicating these issues to technical teams and leadership. This colleague will work in our Enterprise Data Engineering team, ideal candidates will have working experience with infrastructure technology, Apache Kafka, Confluent Kafka, MQ, SQL/NoSQL Databases, and Cloud Engineering

As a Senior Engineer, you will be the lead point of contact for daily operations and incident coordination. Leading a team of highly skilled engineers and technicians, you will use event-based management to oversee monitoring, diagnosis, and troubleshooting to ensure the stability of Citizen's operational infrastructure and business.
  • Be a core member of an agile team driving the latest development practices
  • Lead product envisioning and make complex design decisions for projects.
  • Set up Kafka integration using various Connectors to source/sink data from/to diff systems like MQ, Mongo, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQl, MariaDB etc.
  • Offer technical support leveraging knowledge of analysis and performance evaluation.
  • Perform proactive monitoring of operational elements and alerts to identify those components/elements that are causing or may lead to service degradation or failure.
  • Create tickets, and reports that document actions taken and collect valuable information.
  • Help establish and document escalation procedures for troubleshooting steps.
  • Auditing technical support tickets; documenting patterns and trends as they emerge to proactively reduce downtime.
  • Perform work in adherence to strict compliance policies and standards.
  • Build, Enhance and Maintain runbooks / playbooks.
  • Set up Terraform Automation for application infrastructure set up in various environments.

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of working experience in Kafka administration (on-prem & cloud), messaging, database integration or related field.
  • Experience with one or more cloud platforms (AWS or GCP or Azure), event-driven architecture, DevOps, and containerization.
  • Experience with setting up Kafka client and Kafka broker in Production environment.
  • Experience with Monitoring tools like Graphana, NewRelic and Datadog.
  • Deep knowledge of SVN, GIT and other source code management platforms.
  • Networking technologies, protocols, and concepts
  • Operating Systems and diagnostic commands
  • Experience with one or more Scripting Languages: PowerShell, Bash, Python, Perl.
  • Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities often with limited information, and make appropriate and timely decisions.
  • Ability to track issues and identify possible trends for mitigation.
  • Thorough and resourceful in completing tasks independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of good judgement and independence while evaluating emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Ability to execute changes with minimal supervision in accordance to policy and procedure.
  • Experience engaging and collaborating with engineers or other technical personnel proactively and reactively as needed for problem determination and resolution.

Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electronics Engineering or relevant experience.
