The Oil, Gas & Chemical global practice works on projects from gas plants and midstream facilities to refining assets, chemical production plans, and stand-alone storage and logistics facilities. The Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer will support projects in several industry sectors, including the strategic areas of renewable fuels and carbon capture/reduction. The Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer will lead the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting mechanical designs according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the Project Managers.
  • Specialize in leading multiple Mechanical personnel in an EPC project environment in the Oil, Gas & Chemical industry
  • Prepare and review Mechanical engineering discipline deliverables
  • Apply specialist knowledge of commonly used mechanical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the mechanical engineering services industry
  • Apply knowledge and experience to complex projects, find non-standard design solutions
  • Interface and coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines to meet project design requirements and effectively manage the internal flow of data and design changes
  • Perform inter-discipline engineering document reviews, such as P&ID's
  • Provide field installation support for client and construction personnel and in pre-commissioning & start-up support
  • Provide mentoring of personnel and additional responsibilities such as the opportunity to oversee execution of the above activities performed by less experienced engineers
  • Participate in sales and marketing efforts, lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve financial performance targets
  • Prepare and present project labor hour budgets and equipment cost estimates
  • Report Mechanical discipline progress
  • Prepare technical bid & purchase documents based on process datasheets, client specifications, and industry codes and standards
  • Review vendor equipment bids and prepare technical bid evaluations
  • Review vendor drawings and other documentation and regularly meet, correspond, and coordinate with equipment vendors
  • QA/QC process adherence
  • Effective communication with other engineering disciplines, Procurement, Supplier Quality, and Construction
  • Compliance with company and site safety policies
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program
  • Or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience
  • 7 years of mechanical engineering experience with Oil, Gas and Chemical EPC projects
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Must work in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, and organization
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as API, PIP, and ASME
  • Experience with leading the Mechanical discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.

  • Must possess or be eligible for TWIC
  • Ability to travel.
