Position Overview:

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory¿s seeking a Senior Property Control Assistant to join our property control and operations Support team within our Property Control Department. Members of this team are responsible for identifying, tagging inventory and keeping records of SLAC and/or Stanford University owned equipment and materials in accordance with established policies and practices. As a member of the Property Control and Operations Support team, you will be responsible for providing a broad range of Property Control operations and logistics support under general supervision. You will also provide operational support including coordinating storage issues equipment inventory and salvage. Additionally, you may perform any of the duties described in the Property Control Assistant specification or other duties as assigned.

SLAC is a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) laboratory operated by Stanford University and based in Menlo Park, CA. Given the nature of this position, SLAC will require onsite work.

Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Under the direction of a lead or supervisor, this position is responsible for identifying, tagging inventory of and keeping records of SLAC owned equipment and materials.
  • Investigate and document searches during property reconciliation to ensure the accuracy of data entry into the asset management module.
  • Responsible for the collection of SLAC excess equipment and material from departments or from across campus, evaluating these items and separating usable or salable items from those considered candidates for salvage or recycling/GSA Excess and notating discrepancies between the collection reports and the actual material collected.
  • Mark/Tag SLAC own equipment by assigning identification label, etching, painted stencil, etc.
  • Checks receiving dock daily for new items received that require government marking.
  • Maintain integrity of inventory and property control processes. Recommend process improvements and best practices when necessary.
  • Physical inventory search, walking in confined spaces/tunnels for hours at a time.
  • Interact with other departments on property and inventory related issues.
  • Ensure accuracy of data entry into Asset Management Module System (Oracle).
  • Generate and prepare reconciliation report for review of parts variances and discrepancies.
  • Respond to inquiries and determine and take appropriate action as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree and four years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • knowledge in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word), Adobe PDF, Oracle a plus
  • Certificates and Licenses Required
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Non-commercial Class driver's license.

Physical requirements and working conditions:
  • Work is typically performed in both indoor and outdoor environments. Employees are subjected to a variety of environmental factors, including as heat, cold, dampness, dust, poor illumination, workspace constraints, uncontrolled air temperature, and loud noises.
  • Frequently stand/walk, seated, performs desk-based computer tasks.
  • Ability to spend majority of your shift walking, standing or sitting.
  • Occasionally climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, use a telephone, writing by hand, kneel/crawl, grasp forcefully, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 70 pounds.

The expected pay range for this position is $37.81 (Step 1) - $45.64 (Step 10) per hour. Placement in the range is subject to the applicable Collective Bargaining Unit. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
