Overview

The Senior QA Performance Test Engineer job is responsible for the overall performance quality of systems and technology that are released into ETP's production environment. The scope of this role includes the comprehensive aspects of quality including Performance Testing Strategy and planning, design and development of automated scripts, execution of testing, analyzing results, and metrics reporting.

In their role, the Senior QA Performance Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring systems meet business performance requirements (SLAs) and overall business objectives by tracking and reporting performance test results, performance metrics (response times, error rates, throughput, CPU and memory utilization, latency, and more), identified defects, as well as documenting observations and communicating issues to development staff to assist in their resolution.

Specialized Skills and Technologies

  • 5+ years' experience in Loadrunner, JMeter, NeoLoad, BlazeMeter, Dynatrace, Splunk, Performance Center, and other performance and monitoring testing tools.
  • Experience in Application Programming Interface (API) testing along with multi-system integrations
  • Experience in SAP application testing
  • Understanding of cloud technologies like Azure or AWS


Primary Responsibilities

  • Write testing strategies, test scripts and conditions to ensure effective performance test coverage
  • Execute performance, load, spike, stress, and stability/endurance testing
  • Utilize data analytics to determine client usage characteristics and user flows
  • Identify test data requirements and work with other teams as needed to create and maintain test data
  • Understanding CICD pipelines
  • Coordinate and schedule testing programs with project and program teams
  • Reporting testing outcomes to project stakeholders
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of software testing tools
  • Lead QA projects and teams, become an expert in SGWS technology stack, business processes and data exchanges to help ensure proper test coverage and data integrity across all integration points
  • Perform quality and testing audits across the various IT functions to ensure quality and testing standards, procedures and methodologies are being followed properly and consistently
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvement opportunities for SGWS quality assurance programs
  • Stay up to date on software application testing tools and QA best practices
  • Deliver quality and testing process training to IT staff and project teams
  • Providing coaching and development to Quality Assurance Analysts, mentor peers, and help them build capabilities
  • Facilitate Quality Assurance training and education programs for the SGWS team
  • Coordinating the work of 3rd party Quality Assurance teams
  • Leading and directing offshore testing programs
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Quality Assurance leading practices and serve as a thought leader to the SGWS organization
  • Lead the implementation, build-out, or expansion of automated testing tools
  • Recommend opportunities to lower testing costs or improve quality through alternative staffing models (e.g., gig, offshore, 3rd party)
  • Perform quality and testing audits across the various IT functions to ensure quality and testing standards, procedures and methodologies are being followed properly and consistently
  • Improve the efficiency of QA team, mitigate team conflicts and communication problems
  • Motivate team members to work collaboratively and effectively
  • Plan and document succession planning within scope of responsibility


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree (computer science, information systems, business administration or other industry related curriculum) or combination of education and equivalent experience
  • Experience with Mobile testing tools (Appium, BrowerStack)
  • Working knowledge of relational database technologies and SQL
  • Strong understanding of database architecture/concepts
  • Experience working in Agile environment (SAFe preferred), using DevOps and CD/CI methodology
  • SAFe Agile certified
  • Experience executing the regression and performance testing for packaged releases on a defined scheduled timeline coordinating the scheduling and resources


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (computer science, information systems, business administration or other industry related curriculum) or combination of education and equivalent experience
  • Five (5)+ years serving as a Quality Assurance Performance Engineer
  • Experience with designing and executing Performance Testing with large-scale platforms (SAP, Salesforce, JDA, etc.)
  • Demonstrated advanced command using JMeter, LoadRunner, NeoLoad and/or LoadComplete
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Performance Center, AppDynamics, JProfiler, Datadog, NinjaOne)
  • Experience with data analytics tools (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Open Web Analytics)
  • Strong team player with willingness to collaborate
