Job Title: Senior Red Hat Linux Systems Administrator

Location: Merrifield, VA (Onsite - 3 days per week)

Clearance Required: Active Top Secret Clearance

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Red Hat Linux Systems Administrator to join our team in Merrifield, VA. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing and optimizing a secure Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environment, providing expert-level systems administration, troubleshooting, and support. You will collaborate with IT teams and government agencies to ensure the integrity, security, and performance of mission-critical systems. This role requires working onsite three days a week and maintaining an active Top Secret clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers and related infrastructure in a secure environment.
• Perform routine system maintenance tasks, including patching, backups, and monitoring of system performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues across the Linux environment.
• Implement and maintain security best practices, including system hardening and compliance with government security policies (DISA STIGs, SCAP, etc.).
• Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support software deployments, upgrades, and automation initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior system administrators.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning efforts.
• Implement and manage automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or similar.
• Ensure adherence to change management, incident response, and other ITIL-based processes.

Qualifications:

• Active Top Secret clearance is required.
• 7+ years of experience in Linux systems administration, with an emphasis on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Strong understanding of RHEL system architecture, kernel tuning, and performance optimization.
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, etc.).
• Familiarity with network protocols, firewalls, and security practices.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM).
• Working knowledge of storage solutions, such as SAN, NAS, and RAID configurations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification.
• Experience working in classified environments or with government agencies.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
• Familiarity with scripting languages (Bash, Python, etc.).
