The Azure Core New Tech team is looking for motivated engineers to contribute to the New Technology onboarding process: automating the validation, management, and delivery of all hardware to Microsoft datacenters across Azure, High-Performance Computing, Office, and Edge Computing products within Microsoft.
The Azure Core team works at the boundary of software and hardware. The team develops technology to secure, validate and manage the hardware throughout the lifecycle (bolts to dust), track the hardware metadata, and ensure quality and security of hardware upon arrival at Microsoft datacenters. It invests in the growth of all capacity for Microsoft services and is at the forefront of new hardware platforms coming to the cloud. The team is focused on automating the management and tracking the process of New Technology onboarding to bring new and exciting technologies to market faster.
As a Senior Software Engineer in Azure Core New Tech team, you will be responsible for creating designs, interpreting requirements, and delivering the improvements necessary to bring new technologies to life. This opportunity will allow you to expand your knowledge of software and hardware by working together across the wide set of Azure teams, learn about the latest technologies coming to market and deliver change to Azure.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.
- Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
- Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
- Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
- Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years programming experience in developing products and services in systems and backend.
- 2+ years owning a software product or a full scenario with demonstrated impact on quality, supportability, and process management.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience driving cross functional technical projects from proposal to release.
- Familiarity with DevOps concepts that include continuous deployment, deployment automation, telemetry frameworks, etc.
- Experience with multi-threaded/parallel programming or distributed systems
