Reporting directly to the Director of Core Operations, the Senior System Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and applications. Under minimal day-to-day supervision, with a moderate degree of independent judgment, this role will oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems, as well as troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues. This role will also supervise the System Administrator position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Core Operations department systems and provide guidance to supervised staff members
  • Manage and maintain the institution's Prattcard and SIS server infrastructure, storage systems, and other related equipment
  • Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in the event of system failure or data loss
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all systems, policies, procedures, and user guides
  • Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and expansions to accommodate the institution's evolving needs
  • Provide technical support to end-users and resolve all issues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Collaborate with other departments to assess their needs and propose solutions to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Conduct regular audits and implement measures to safeguard the institution's data and systems
  • Stay current on industry trends and advancements in IT technology to recommend upgrades and improvements to the infrastructure


Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent field experience.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in system administration, preferably in an educational or similar institution
Skills:
  • Proficiency in networking, server management, virtualization, and cloud computing technologies
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team of IT professionals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to provide stellar customer service and support
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting
Other:
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work independently and juggle several complex tasks simultaneously, as well as have excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range is $75,000-80,000. The position will be onsite 5 days/wk.
