Berkeley Lab's (LBNL) Biosciences Area Office (BSAO) has an opening for an Site Services Coordinator to join the Building Operations Team at their West Berkeley Biosciences Center located at 717 Potter Street in Berkeley, CA 94710.

In this exciting role, you will manage the property inventory, maintain information in the Asset Management System, participate in property audits, oversee coordination and management of supplied gasses, provide building management support, and offer transportation assistance. Reporting to the Operations Manager for Facilities, Property, and Site Planning, you will have the opportunity to partner with vendors, administrative teams, and safety teams to ensure that procedures and guidelines for requesting, servicing, and maintaining supplied gas systems are safely followed and in compliance with Lab policies. This position will provide transportation services, including the delivery of equipment, materials, and personnel.

This position has an anticipated start date of September 1, 2024.

What You Will Do:
  • Manage the inventory database and update the Asset Management System.
  • Participate in property audits, assessments, and execute annual physical inventories.
  • Coordinate necessary asset agreements, transfers, and retirement forms.
  • Monitor building shared gas supply, place and track gas supply orders, and assist with moving empty gas tanks for vendors to pick up.
  • Ensure the gas area is maintained safely and cleanly.
  • Partner with gas vendors in support of principal investigators.
  • Assist Facilities Management team with facility management including work request origination, assisting with moves, facility emergency response and off-hours support, providing site access through the Lab site access management system, hard key, telephone, and network service order generation and distribution, etc.
  • Ensure the space data related to occupants, assignments, and current usage are updated and maintained.
  • Transport equipment or other materials to salvage.
  • Transport and help set up equipment for meetings and conferences.


What is Required:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory, property, and facility coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, assessing, and maintaining basic building maintenance and planning documentation and/or processes.
  • Demonstrated experience working within technical, procedural, and heavily regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency using a variety of cloud-based software platforms and applications including MS Office Suite, Google Apps Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Zoom web conferencing on a Mac or PC computer.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills including the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently to meet workload demands and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including experience anticipating, identifying, and resolving complex property and/or facility issues.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including experience interfacing with a variety of personnel both internal and external to an organization with a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to operate transport vehicles.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to lift 20-30 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to handle moving and transporting materials and equipment.
  • There is a potential of exposure to hazardous chemicals and gasses.
  • Occasional after-hours work may be required to respond to facility-related emergencies or support off-hours activities.


Desired Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge/training) in Building Maintenance, Property Management, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with property management systems and facility management software.
  • Experience with databases, tracking software, and shared online resources.
  • Experience in the handling and exposure to hazardous chemicals and gasses.

  • This position is expected to pay $33.02 - $41.31 per hour which fits within the full salary range of $33.02 - $55.76 per hour for job code MN1.2. Salary for this position will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualifications and experience, including skills, knowledge, relevant education, certifications, plus also aligned with the internal peer group.
