Job Summary

The Social Worker works collaboratively through Cluster Support Teams with other Social Workers, MSAC (Metro Student Attendance Center), and Court Liaison, local Schools, Parents, Students, Principals and others to provide services to individuals, student groups and families to assist in reducing student truancy, improving student discipline and removing social barriers that impede learning.

What you will do
  • Provide clinical counseling to individuals, student groups and their families.
  • Provide case management/wrap-around services to students and their families.
  • Works collaboratively through Cluster Support Teams to reduce student truancy, improve student discipline and remove social barriers that impede learning.
  • Develop and assist in the implementation of plans for interventions with students that may include Crisis Intervention and Threat Assessments while working with District Crisis Teams.
  • Uses the Data Warehouse and SMS programs to assess the needs of students to enhance their school performance by providing optimal Social Work Services to students that show improved indicators in the areas of academics, attendance and discipline.
  • Provides Mental Health and Psychosocial assessments and evaluations of students referred and offer professional recommendations to multidisciplinary teams (schools, administrators, nurses, special education, etc.)
  • Coordinates joint conferences with Parents/School Personnel to integrate new and returning students who may be experiencing social problems.
  • Make home visits with other school personnel
Education Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Social Work Required
Experience Qualifications
  • 1-3 years Experience working with children in a related field Preferred

  • Case management assessment and documentation abilities

  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners and clients
  • Analytical abilities
Licenses and Certifications
  • Must be licensed by the Tennessee Department of Education in School Social Work or be eligible for that license Required
  • Since Master School Social Work Certification required pay grade set at MA+ as minimum grade Required
Equivalency
Starting At: $52,048.58

Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
