Software Development Engineer, Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT)

Bellevue, Washington

Employer: Amazon
Industry: Software Development
Salary: $129300 per year
Job type: Full-Time

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon's global fulfillment network by designing and building the software, hardware and processes that enable our customers to get what they want, when they want it. We put innovation into action, working alongside our employees in the FCs to move billions of customer orders through our Fulfillment Centers globally. AFT is creating the future of fulfillment, and we're looking for enthusiastic people with big ideas and the drive to see them at work in the real world. If you're ready to innovate on a global scale and manage a high performing team, join us.

When a human looks at a picture of an item, they can easily identify what the item is and understand how to pick it up. Robots and every fulfillment process from procurement through delivery rely on an understanding of an item's physical characteristics to make efficient fulfillment decisions. Our vision is to teach systems to do what comes naturally to humans - identify items, describe them, and make fast, informed choices. To solve these challenges at scale, we leverage a rich set of data including measurements, images, point clouds, and beyond. We then use a variety of techniques including computer vision, machine learning, and advanced statistics to create powerful insights for automated decision making and improved customer experience.

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer, you will build and own platforms that enable item-level attributes and insights. This requires supporting distributed systems, Computer Vision Machine Learning models, and statistical algorithms.

You will build products that ingest, process, and produce data and insights on the physical attributes of items at Amazon scale.

You will work with a cross-functional team of software engineers, scientists, program managers, product managers, and operations analysts to understand customer requirements, create technical design documentation, and execute these designs.

You will have the opportunity to work directly with internal customers that deal with the day-to-day challenges of physical inventory.

You will write high-quality code, and mentor and coach junior software developers.

A day in the life

Amazon offers a full range of benefits that support you and eligible family members, including domestic partners and their children. Benefits can vary by location, the number of regularly scheduled hours you work, length of employment, and job status such as seasonal or temporary employment. The benefits that generally apply to regular, full-time employees include:

1. Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage

2. Maternity and Parental Leave Options

3. Paid Time Off (PTO)

4. 401(k) Plan

If you are not sure that every qualification on the list above describes you exactly, we'd still love to hear from you! At Amazon, we value people with unique backgrounds, experiences, and skillsets. If you're passionate about this role and want to make an impact on a global scale, please apply!
