System Deployment Engineer, Amazon Fulfillment Technology

Our environment is global and complex with a variety of software and systems, including industrial machines and protocols. We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery and receive of products and packages which includes building custom hardware and applying machine learning, image processing, and real-time data processing using distributed systems. We are looking for a System Development Engineer, capable of developing next-gen Industrial HW System platforms and automation solutions for AFT. This position will be exposed to the development of custom communications protocols, PLC optimization, diagnostics development and equipment design. You will work closely with an internal inter-disciplinary team, and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution and test. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative environment.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will design and develop solutions involving robotics, data management and precision conveyance. You will participate in large-scale HW engineering projects, supporting global deployments of equipment. This position will be filled with a candidate identified as a future leader, capable of driving AFT into the lead of HW system design and we are looking for candidates who are up to the task.

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon's global fulfillment network. Inbound

AFT's Inbound team delivers innovative solutions to automatically receive and process billions of units of inventory from Amazon's vendors and third-party sellers worldwide, making the merchandise quickly available to Amazon customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Eng, Mechatronics, Robotics or related discipline

- 4+ years of relevant industry experience.

- Experience in IPC/PLC code development and installation of controls solutions,

- Understanding of industrial networking (Profibus, ASi and Industrial Ethernet) and Ethernet Networking solutions and concepts

- 4+ years Basic coding skills in a modern programming language, such as Java, C++, Python, etc. in a UNIX/Linux environment to assist with automation and reporting tasks.

- Experience with creating automated alarms, reports and KPI metrics for plant management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with distributed systems at scale

- Master's in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent industry experience

- 4+ years of software development experience

- Good verbal and written communication skills

- At least two life-cycles of large scale control system experience (design, development and deployment) utilizing IPC/PLC programming.

- Experience managing and coordinating with multiple 3rd party suppliers.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
