Key job responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced software development engineers with a strong track record of delivering high quality scalable distributed systems and/or RESTful services built for recommendation systems with creativity to architect simple solutions to complex problems and a 'carte blanche' of state of the art AWS solutions to leverage. You will work directly with Engineering, Data, Science and Product peers within your team to iterate and ship new ideas.

The successful candidate will have the satisfaction of seeing their work on Amazon.com and our Advertiser websites, where it will be viewed by millions of customers and drive quantifiable revenue impact. The candidate looks to broaden their technical skills and work in an environment that thrives on creativity, experimentation, and product innovation. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

- Advanced degree (MS/ME/PhD) in Computer Science or related discipline

- Experience building a scalable ML-powered service

- Experience building production systems with customer and/or revenue impact, especially in the retail/advertising domain

- Experience working with Amazon Web Services technologies to support scaling (S3, Elastic Map Reduce, Sagemaker, and Redshift

- Exposure to column-oriented databases such as Amazon Redshift and NoSQL databases such as Amazon DynamoDB

- Experience with big data tools like Hadoop, Spark, EMR (Amazon Elastic Map Reduce)

- Knowledge in Machine Learning, natural language processing, data mining, or information extraction

- Experience in designing, building and troubleshooting complex systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
