Digital Products Engineering is responsible for Tesla's customer facing website which serves customers in over 60 countries, helping users understand and purchase our groundbreaking products, and keep track of their orders through delivery.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a talented backend Software Engineer to focus on platform improvements, observability, and the development of our in-house continuous profiling platform. The candidate will be part of the Core Services team at Tesla, which owns backend orchestration of both Vehicle and Energy Products (storage/solar/charging) and the entire journey from Order, Purchase, Delivery/Installation and Ownership.

Responsibilities
  • Work on enhancing and optimizing our platform infrastructure to ensure scalability, reliability, and high performance
  • Develop and maintain our in-house continuous profiling platform to provide insights into system behavior and performance
  • Implement observability tools and techniques to enhance monitoring, logging, and tracing capabilities across all services
  • Design, develop and support applications and systems under the team's scope, including Vehicle and Energy order processing, and features accessible through mobile app, etc.
  • Contribute to maintaining and improving our internal libraries and shared components, ensuring they are robust, efficient, and easy to use
  • Write clean, maintainable, performant, and well-tested code to implement new features and fix bugs
  • Write unit tests, integration tests, and work with QA to coordinate timely regression for new features
  • Investigate and understand existing system technical functionality and propose technical improvement
  • Understand and improve the scalability, maintainability, availability, and visibility of applications
  • Work with technologies such as Go, C#, .NET core, MySQL, MongoDB, etc


Requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Solid understanding of observability concepts, including, logging, tracing, and continuous profiling tools/techniques
  • Experience writing code in object-oriented languages
  • Experience with microservices, or service-oriented architecture
  • Good unit testing and integration testing practices
  • Experience with message queue architecture and messaging systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.
  • Experience with observability tools and APIs including Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry
  • Experience with databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch is a plus
  • Experience with or knowledge of generative AI and RAG architectures is a plus
  • Experience with front end technologies such as React is a plus

    • Expected Compensation

      $104,000 - $348,000/annual salary, depending on level + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
