Sr. Software Development Engineer, Digital Experience Core Services

Digital Products Engineering is responsible for Tesla's customer facing website which serves customers in over 60 countries, helping users understand and purchase our groundbreaking products, and keep track of their orders through delivery.
Tesla's Digital Product Engineering team is seeking an exceptional Software Engineer, with experience in backend development, who will be responsible for building information systems to support Tesla's rapid growth while providing a seamless and intuitive customer experience. Candidate will be part of core services team at Tesla, which owns backend orchestration of both Vehicle and Energy Products (storage/solar/charging) entire journey from Order, Purchase, Delivery/Installation and Ownership.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and support applications and systems under the team's scope, including Vehicle and Energy order processing, Product Installation and Ownership experience, and features accessible through mobile app, etc.
• Own feature development and projects through design, development, testing, release and production
• Write clean, maintainable, performant, and well-tested code to implement new features and fix bugs
• Write unit tests, integration tests, and work with QA to coordinate timely regression for new features
• Monitor live system metrics, respond to alerts, and troubleshoot production issues
• Investigate and understand existing system technical functionality and propose technical improvement
• Communicate changes in project estimates, dependencies, and blockers with affected stakeholders quickly
• Understand and improve the scalability, maintainability, availability, and visibility of applications
• Document newly implemented technologies and application functionality
• Work with technologies such as Golang, Java, C#, .Net core, MySQL

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent in experience
• Expert knowledge of REST APIs
• Experience writing code in object oriented languages
• Experience with microservices, or service oriented architecture
• Experience with databases (either SQL or NoSQL)
• Good unit testing and integration testing practices
• Experience with message queue architecture
• Knowledge in the best code practices including design patterns across different languages/frameworks
• Experience with Mysql, PostgreSQL
• Experience or Knowledge on open source technologies such as Java, Kafka, Debezium, Elasticsearch, etc.

Expected Compensation

$120,000 - $210,000/annual salary, depending on level + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
