As a Solution Development Engineer (Vision), you will validate new robot guidance vision opportunities - considering technical and commercial feasibility and fit to the company vision on solution scope. You will support the proposal and simulation teams with estimated hardware and software requirements for Atlas Copco vision systems integrated with several robot brands. You will collaborate with controls and mechanical engineering teams on project execution - evaluate/re-evaluate vision solution capabilities based on final design requirements, including production facility and customer-site support of vision solution integration.
  • You will directly support the sales team and customers with technical knowledge as a subject matter expert on vision applications and core Atlas Copco product capabilities.
  • You will create tools to simplify application evaluation - including tolerance stack-up analysis, accuracy requirements for several fastener/socket/bit combinations, impact of off-axis viewing angle, and depth of field validation.
  • You will maintain a pathfinder for efficient decision-making on vision applications - covering robot guidance inspection and data acquisition.
  • You will contribute to the global R&D team on vision solution portfolio development with local market requirements, technical expertise, and future opportunity outlook for new hardware and software products.
  • You will work with the local marketing team to ensure Atlas Copco is aligned with customers and the company needs to communicate capabilities and value to the market.
  • You will develop the broader Application Center organization's knowledge to support revenue growth in vision solutions. You will report to the Solution Development Team Lead.

To succeed, you will need:
  • To report to our Auburn Hills, MI office 2 times per week #LI-Hybrid
  • To have a Bachelor's Degree in the Engineering field
  • To travel locally and internationally to support customers, suppliers, and Atlas Copco sites
  • 3 years of experience with International Customers and Suppliers
  • 3 years of experience specifying and implementing functional and commercial 2D and 3D vision solutions with a focus on robot guidance robot guidance
  • 3 years of experience with Industrial Communication Protocols
  • 3+ years of experience with multiple robot brands preferred (Universal Robots, Fanuc)
