In the role of SC Area Accounting Manager, we'll count on you to:

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Accounting Manager, we'll count on you to:

• Be responsible for accounting functions for all offices in the South Carolina Area

• Perform specialized accounting functions and establish internal controls for procedures and practices in accordance with company policies, accounting procedures and contractual obligation

• Work directly with Area Operations Manager, Business Group Managers, Regional Controller and multiple Project Managers to manage and coordinate Area and project accounting systems to monitor area general ledger accounts, project budgets, invoicing, payables, receivables and other related financial information

• Audit compliance with contractual requirements, which may include invoicing and reporting format, net fee projections and financial quality control

• Review and analyze financial statement

• Prepare and/or coordinate and review of Area monthly forecast reports and annual Area budget

• Advise management on financial performance of Area and project

• Supervise the activity of accounting team specific to project accounting and contractual obligation

• Make staffing recommendations to management

• Select and/or deal directly with vendors related to Area operations as needed

• Communicate and correspond directly with clients with respect to invoicing, receivables and project reporting as needed

• Support external project and internal financial audit

• Participate in project review

• Identify local opportunities for training and support

• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience supervising staff
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Proficiency with Oracle and Business Intelligence (BI)
  • Familiarity with FAR and GAAP requirements
  • A/E Industry Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience; an advanced degree may offset years of experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Word and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling and telephone skills
  • Flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and collaborate with various managers in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
