Duties Description The position is primarily responsible for supporting the Commissioner by providing project management and coordination of internal and external projects, serving as primary liaison to the Chamber team on agency assignments, preparing research and background in advance of special events, overseeing the executive office support team, managing the agency's portfolio of boards and appointments, and preparing and accompanying the commissioner to events as required throughout the state. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Serves as OCFS's executive liaison to assist the Executive Chamber's human services portfolio in response to requests for information, data, and special assignments.

Implement strategic direction as identified by the Commissioner working closely with executive leadership to implement throughout the agency.

Develop and manage external and internal partners to ensure mission is fulfilled.

Disseminate information and communicates ideas and policies on behalf of the Commissioner.

Respond on behalf of the Commissioner to issues that arise, both internal and external.

Direct project teams that are responsible for project planning for policy analysis and research.

Represent the Commissioner at meetings, conferences, public events, etc., as needed.

Provides management and supervision of the executive office support team.

Manages special projects for the Commissioner and serves as organizer for legislative budget hearing preparation.

Advise and develop in conjunction with the Executive Deputy Commissioner internal and external communications necessary to the successful operations of the agency.

Work collaboratively with Deputy Commissioners and Legal staff to facilitate the day-to-day operations of the agency, including the management of emergent issues.

Represent the Commissioner and/or Executive Deputy Commissioner on workgroups consistent with supporting the Governor's priorities and special projects that require OCFS participation.

Performs additional duties as requested by the Commissioner.

Additional Comments Background Investigation Requirements:

1) All prospective employees will be investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee's employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees.

2) All prospective employees will be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees will be required to pay any necessary fees.

3) For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable.
