The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is hiring a Senior Benefit Programs Specialist Community Outreach Worker to help individuals and families in Chesterfield County and Colonial Heights by providing services in one or more program areas, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medical Assistance, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).
What You Do and How You Do It:
You will interview people and provide information on Social Services programs at various locations in the community. You will also assist residents in applying for public assistance programs and connecting them to other services, private health care providers, and county services. You would develop and maintain partnerships with other agencies, schools, and programs to coordinate and maximize services to our customers based on identified needs. Perform other work as required.
Here's What You Need:
Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, human services, or a related field and at least three years of experience in the social services or human services field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be able to communicate fluently verbally and in writing. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are preferred.
The hiring salary is $53,668 - $63,061 annually, plus an attractive benefits package.

You will also participate in community events, and meetings, and give presentations to community members.
