The Senior Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist will be responsible for complex technical work across a broad range of EHS disciplines. The EHS Specialist will play a leading role in facilitating EHS program implementation, risk assessment, inspections, event learning, training, and risk reduction projects. The EHS Specialist will perform work both individually and in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement for programs in Cathode Manufacturing, Active Material Recycling, Vehicle Testing, Homologation and support other groups, as assigned.


Responsibilities
  • Lead implementation and sustainment of EHS operations, programs, systems, and procedures, including Process Safety, Control of Hazardous Energy, Hazard Communication, Working at Heights, etc.
  • Monitor and mitigate employee exposures to chemical health hazards
  • Provide EHS design input for complex and novel chemical processes and equipment
  • Collaborate with operational teams to complete Job Hazard Analyses, PPE assessments, equipment safety buyoffs, ergonomic assessments, EHS Management of Change reviews, and implement appropriate safeguards to mitigate identified risks
  • Facilitate EHS engagement by tracking and driving Key Performance Indicator metrics
  • Support event learning process to determine cause(s), prevention, and corrective measures
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and/or guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, DOT, EPA, TCEQ and other applicable regulatory agencies


Requirements
  • 5+ years or more working as an EHS Specialist, EHS Engineer or related role
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or safety-related discipline; or equivalent experience
  • Experience in heavy chemical industries such as active cathode manufacturing, battery cell manufacturing, semiconductor fabrication, or pharmaceuticals
  • Advanced competency in controlling process hazards using skills in Industrial Hygiene, Machinery Safety, Control of Hazardous Energy and Electrical Safety
  • Working ability to read and understand Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Mechanical, Electrical, and Architectural permit sets, CAD drawings
  • Strong knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying, and documenting federal, state and local safety and health regulations and industry best practices
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with all levels of an organization
