The team is the 3P Hardware team, where you will work with partners/OEMs on programs, mostly TVs. This means that there will be more projects to cover than on 1P Hardware team. It is fast paced, exciting, and there is great teamwork spirit. We also have an Ideas Initiative for forward looking ideas for products that allows us to prototype ideas for potential PRFAQs.

What will you help us create?

As Sr. Hardware Development Engineer in this role, you will be responsible to work with OEM/ODM partners which includes leading discussions with Contract Manufacturer and SOC vendors on chip selection, implementation of features, schematic reviews, layout reviews, RF, power delivery, mechanical, ID.

You will be responsible for the schematic and PCB design based on the reference platform. In addition, you will also act as system integrator, leading the cross-functional engineering team through the development process. You will be responsible for the overall hardware including audio, RF, power, display, etc; as well as leading the team through all the usual integration challenges - ESD, EMC, antenna performance, etc.

• \tEngage with OEM/ODM partners, vendors and cross functional teams to design, develop and test HW applicable to program objectives.

• \tPerform review on schematic, layout, and validation results.

• \tBe hands-on for issue debug and root cause analysis.

• \tCollaborating with software teams to understand and resolve design tradeoffs across hardware/ software for seamless integration.

• \tWork with the operations team on manufacturing test development and contract manufacturing.

• \tMaintain strong communications among cross functional teams.

• \tMentor junior engineers in engineering best practices, and participate in hiring of new team members

A day in the life

You will participate in design, implementation, working with partners and ODMs, marketing and software professionals to ensure that the products are best of the breed. You will also participate in resolving issues and roadblocks to meeting deadlines, as well as rin discussions with leadership.

About the team

The team is comprised of hardware engineers with experience ranging from 5 years to 20+ years. Managers have many years of experience leading groups that have developed and shipped leading edge products, sold in the millions, around the world. Leadership has led the development and sale of well known products like FireTVs, FireTV Sticks, sound-bars, tablets, and products like the Alexa enabled Echo Show and Echo Dot.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures

- 5+ years hardware experience as EE on portable consumer electronic devices

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent

- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production

- Experience with the project management of technical projects

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
