Water Management seeks a senior mechanic with extensive working experience and knowledge of water treatment and reclamation facilities or power plant systems and equipment. This position is devoted to maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plant(s), dams and lift stations. Use your expertise and skills to conduct all scheduled preventative maintenance services on all mechanical systems equipment and components per manufactures recommendations and best operational practices. Use your knowledge to identify equipment maintenance needs and enter appropriate work orders into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

This role coordinates preventative maintenance for equipment, piping, and facility components; visually inspects equipment function and ancillary parts, equipment alignment, and pump maintenance; assists with prioritizing and monitoring staff assignments; trains staff; and ensures compliance with safety and applicable regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintains and verifies supply and parts inventory; obtains quotes from vendors, submitting information to management for approval; identifies and resolves safety issues, and coordinates the cleaning of work areas and removal of chemical spills. Prepares and maintains reports, records, and other documentation; compiles and submits information to maintenance management system; reviews work to ensure accuracy and completeness

This position will be required to serve stand-by/recall for emergencies often during inclement weather.

  • Prepares and maintains reports, records, and other documentation; compiles and submits information to maintenance management system; reviews work to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC)
  • One year of additional vocational training
  • Four years of plant maintenance experience.
  • Valid, unrestricted, North Carolina driver's license "or" if you currently have another states driver's license, must be willing and able to obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire
  • North Carolina Wastewater Collections certification and/or AWWA Maintenance Technologist I certification.
  • Two years' experience working with a CMMS program, at least some experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with NEXGEN or other EPM systems.
  • Experience maintaining daily safety, progress and production records daily.
  • Experience in an Industrial, manufacturing, or water utility setting.
  • Experience planning and assessing risk and hazards assessments.
  • Qualified for and able to provide leadership and scheduling assistance for all job-related trainings to include: OSHA Lock-out/Tag-out, Competent Person, Fall protection and Forklift certifications
  • Class B CDL license
  • Basic Computer skills in MS Office applications strongly preferred
